DESIGN AND EVALUATION OF INSULIN GRANULE-LOADED MICROPLATES: A NOVEL APPROACH FOR TYPE 1 DIABETES:
Type-1 diabetes is a global endocrine and metabolic disorder affecting approximately 30 million people, characterized by the autoimmune destruction of β-cells. The conventional management approach for this condition involves daily subcutaneous insulin injections and monitoring of blood glucose levels. However, these methods present challenges for patients and elevate the risk of hypoglycemia, leading to severe complications. In this context, innovative controlled delivery systems show significant promise in advancing diabetes treatment. These systems aim to enhance drug stability, provide sustained release, and overcome biological barriers to improve drug bioavailability, thereby mitigating the risk of hypoglycemia and reducing insulin injection intervals.
