Alyssa Kunkel is a Ph.D. student at Rice University in the Department of Bioengineering, where her research focuses on the use of biomaterials for drug delivery. Alyssa received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University, where she worked on developing a point-of-care device for detecting prenatal diseases. At Rice, she works in Dr. Kevin McHugh's laboratory to improve vaccines by using modular, biodegradable microparticles to leverage antigen kinetics to improve the immune response.
