Dr. Mariia Nesterkina is an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Researcher currently working at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland, within the Department of Drug Delivery across Biological Barriers and the Department of Drug Design and Optimization. Her research focuses on innovative drug delivery systems for skin applications, specifically thermotropic liquid crystals. These systems are distinguished by their temperature-induced switchability, enabling drug release to transition to the liquid crystal state depending on skin temperature.
Dr. Nesterkina has received several awards and honors, including the Scholarship of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for Young Scientists (2016-2018), the Excellence Award from the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (Lisbon, Portugal 2021), the Runner-Up Presentation by a Postdoctoral Researcher (Dublin, Ireland 2022), and recognition from the Galenus Foundation (Vienna, Austria 2023, 2024).
