Shiow-Fern Ng, MPharm, PhD, RPh (she/her/hers)

Dr Shiow-Fern Ng received her Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2007 from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK).She returned to Kuala Lumpur in 2007 and began an academic career at the Faculty of Pharmacy, National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or UKM). Currently she is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics. She is also the Chairperson for Centre for Drug Delivery Technology and Vaccine in UKM. Her research interests focus on the exploration of novel biomaterials and delivery of therapeutic agents to acute and chronic wounds. Throughout her academic career, she has obtained multiple awards, namely Publications in top tier Journals (2016-2022), Teaching Innovation Award (2014, 2017, 2020), Outstanding industry collaboration award (2017) in UKM. Dr Ng is also listed as one of the World Top 2% Scientists in a Single Year for 3 consecutive years - 2021,2022 and 2023 by Stanford University as well as named as a Highly Cited Researcher 2021 by Elsevier. Cumulatively, she has successfully obtained over MYR (Ringgit Malaysia) 1.5 million of research grants.
