Sofia Barros has a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences, from Universidade da Beira Interior. In 2019, Sofia joined i3S for an assistant research position in the Nanomedicines and Translational Drug Delivery Group, and in 2020, started her PhD. During these 4 years, Sofia worked with nanotechnology to target IBD but also with complex in vitro 3D models simulating the in vivo intestinal scenarios to use as drug screens and to study the pathology of some diseases.
