Professor Fabio Salvatore Palumbo
Full Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology, Department of Biological, Chemical, and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies (STEBICEF), University of Palermo. Professor Palumbo leads the Laboratory for Biological and Chemical Characterization of Biomaterials and Nanostructures and is a member of the Laboratory of Biocompatible Polymers (LPB). Professor Palumbo serves as a board member of the CRS Italy Chapter. He authored over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, holds 5 international patents related to innovative pharmaceutical formulations, successfully transferred to biotech companies. Professor Palumbo's research focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of both natural and synthetic biocompatible polymers. These polymers are processed into various forms, including hydrogels, electrospun membranes, 3D-printed scaffolds, and nano- and microparticles. His work has applications in drug delivery, gene delivery, and regenerative medicine. Recently, his research has emphasized the development of smart, stimuli-responsive polymeric platforms for loco-regional tumor treatment and secretome release for wound healing applications.
