Markrete currently leads a team that works on lipid nanoparticle formulations for base editing applications at Beam Therapeutics. She previously worked on optimizing drug products for oral long-acting dosage forms to improve their release rates and mechanical integrity. She started her work in industry characterizing peptides of naturally derived silk protein for medical and consumer products. During her PhD, she studied the self-assembly and reactivity of alkylated-polymers and metal complexes for sensing applications, which she completed in the Swager lab at MIT in 2017.
