Carmen Alvarez-Lorenzo is Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC, Spain). She was a postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA) and a "Ramón y Cajal" researcher at USC. Working at the interface of pharmaceutical technology, biology, materials science and medicine, her research focusses on nanocarriers, stimulus-sensitive and imprinted hydrogels, bioinspired drug delivery systems, scaffolds for regenerative medicine, and drug-device combination products. She has been the PI of numerous projects, coauthored +400 papers, and supervised 30 PhD students. She is an AIMBE Fellow and the Head of the USC Institute of Materials (iMATUS).
