Tenure Track Assistant Professor

Mariangela Garofalo is a tenure-track assistant professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences, University of Padua (Italy). She earned a PhD in co-supervision from University of Helsinki (Finland) and University Federico II of Naples (Italy) and an MBA from the Polish Academy of Sciences, PL, and Woodbury School of Business UT, USA. Since 2012, she advanced her overall career from PhD student (Italy and Finland), to postdoc (University of Helsinki 2016-2018, University of Milan 2018-2019), and finally to assistant professor (2019-up to now, University of Padua, Italy). She has acquired significant experience in high- level research in an international context: i) in Finland as PhD student and postdoc; ii) in Switzerland, Austria and Poland as visiting researcher supported by the Erasmus staff mobility exchange program and by COST Action: CA1714-Cancer Nanomedicine. She has recently received the Ludwik Rajchman Award Issued by National Institute of Publich Health PZH-National Research Institute (Warsaw, Poland). Her research is focused on the definition of strategies to efficiently improve cancer treatment using nanomedicines as oncolytic viruses and extracellular vesicles.
