Prof. Jose M. LAGARON is the Founder and Group Leader of the Novel Materials and Nanotechnology group at the IATA Research Center, part of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in Valencia, Spain. He also serves as the Head of the CSIC-University Jaume I Joint Unit in Polymer Technology. According to Scopus, he has authored over 357 peer-reviewed publications (The Lancet Microbe, ACS Molecular Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutics,..), holds 72 patents, and has an h-index of 75. He has received several awards such as the AITEX 2021 Award to Best Innovation Against COVID-19, the Innovation Radar Award 2018 for Best Early Stage Innovation of the European Union, and the 2023 CSIC Award for Technology Tranfer.
Prof. LAGARON has led various projects for his institution, including the FP6 and FP7 European Projects FRISBEE, ECOBIOCAP, and NEWBONE, and coordinated two H2020 EU Projects focused on developing novel nanotechnologies and biomaterials for packaging, nutraceuticals, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and biomedical applications. Additionally, he is the Vice President of BIOVAL, the Association of Companies and Entities of the Biotech sector in the Valencia Region. Lastly, he is the Founder of several awarded nanobiotech spin-offs, including the Bioinicia Group S.L.
