Associate Professor Ilva Rupenthal is Deputy Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, the University of Auckland, and acts as Director of the Buchanan Ocular Therapeutics Unit (www.botu.nz), which aims to translate ocular therapeutic related scientific research into the clinical setting. Ilva’s team is researching various drugs and drug delivery systems for the management of inflammatory eye conditions, with patented technologies licensed to biotechnology companies. Ilva obtained a BPharm from the Philipps-University of Marburg, Germany, and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (but with a focus on ocular drug delivery) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
