Current methods of drug-delivery for indications in fertility, pregnancy and a range of gynaecological conditions are profoundly inadequate for millions of women around the world. Vaginal delivery has multiple medical benefits and can avoid the need for painful daily injections – but existing products are flawed and cause stress, uncertainty and inconvenience.
The patented Callavid® drug-delivery device enables convenient and reliable vaginal delivery of medicines and hormones, and its underlying technology is based on a product already cleared by the US FDA. Beyond fertility and pregnancy, our novel design has applications including the vaginal microbiome, cancer/pre-cancer & OTC medications. It can also be adapted for precise diagnostic sample collection applications.
Initial seed funding is in place to finalise development of our first combination drug-device product delivering generic micronized progesterone, with a first-in-woman trial and a bioequivalence trial in planning to obtain regulatory approval.
