Innovation Showcase: NaDeNo's polymer based drug delivery platform for oncology applications

NaDeNo’s lead candidate PACAB-002 is a proprietary repurposing of the effective chemotherapy cabazitaxel, for which powerful preclinical data have been generated. PACAB-002 is intended for local administration in the peritoneal cavity for the treatment of peritoneal metastasis originating from colorectal and ovarian cancer. This is a cancer indication of high unmet medical need, for which there are currently no effective treatment options. Using our nanoparticles in treatment of peritoneal metastasis in mice we have demonstrated >97% tumor weight decrease compared to active non-encapsulated control, long drug retention time in the peritoneal cavity, tumor specific drug accumulation and low systemic toxicity. Our clinical advisory board with internationally leading KOLs are highly enthusiastic about implementing our innovation to treat their patients.

NaDeNo is based on extensive research and internationally recognized competence within nanomedicine at SINTEF. In collaboration with SINTEF and the Norwegian Radium Hospital, NaDeNo is currently developing pipeline products for treatment of other cancers with high unmet medical need (undisclosed), with the aim of generating new IP and pipeline candidates. We are also in continuous dialogue with pharma companies developing small molecule drugs in need of smart delivery technology, with the aim of co-development of novel product candidates. 

The advantage of NaDeNo’s technology is the unique combination of important features: Additive treatment effect of the nanoparticles, significant drug accumulation in tumors, high drug loading without the need for chemical modification, low-cost and scalable manufacturing process without the use of organic solvents, and long-term stability of the final product.
